Officer Nickolas Cardani was conducting surveillance on Saturday, Feb. 25 in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue when he observed two males engage in a suspected drug transaction, Atlantic City police said. A description of both suspects was broadcasted city-wide to patrol units.

Officer Louis Scarlata observed a male, Deshawn Mallory, matching the description of one of the suspects, police said. Mallory was taken into custody after he was found in possession of approximately four grams of suspected crack cocaine, police said. Mallory was also in possession of $103 cash believed to be proceeds of narcotics sales.

Mallory, 20, was charged with multiple drug possession charges.
